7. What is a grant?:

- Basically a grant is the physical issuance of a Coat of Arms. It is the formal draft signed by the Artist or Institution issuing (or granting) you the Coat of Arms. Some people many think that the word grant implies that the designer is granting you the privilege of having a Coat of Arms and they would be right if you were petitioning for a Coat of Arms through a country. (see question 14 for further details) But since the term is well known and established we here at the Modern Heraldry Company use the term "grant" to refer to the final print of the Coat of Arms we deliver with your commission of a heraldic design.

- That is to say that we do not imply that we are a royal house or government "granting" a Coat of Arms. We are commissioned by you the client to design a Coat of Arms for you. You are the only authority you need to begin your own family tradition of heraldry. We don't believe it should have to be that complicated or expensive..
